Golden Knights Season Preview

After another promising yet heartbreaking season for the Vegas Golden Knights came to an end in the Western Conference Finals, we all have one goal in mind for this season, a Stanley Cup. Since entering the league in 2017, the Golden Knights have proven themselves as one of the top teams in the National Hockey League, but have fallen short of the ultimate goal. With only three years under their belt, they have given the fans plenty to cheer about and it seems this year will be no different. With no in person attendance to start the season, Tailgate Social will be the next best thing for game day viewing all season long.
Entering the 2021 season the Knights made a splash in the off season by signing all-star defenseman Alex Pietrangelo. Pietrangelo, coming from the ever so dominant St. Louis Blues, has a plethora of experience, one including his Stanley Cup win just two seasons ago. After being drafted in 2008 with the fourth overall pick by the Blues he has been in St. Louis ever since. He has now decided to pair up with team leader Brayden McNabb on defense, and join our Golden Knights on a seven year contract with another title in mind. In the midst of his signing, we were also forced to cut ties with a former assistant captain, Nate Schmidt, who is headed to Vancouver. Deryk Engelland, another tough loss for Vegas, has retired, but will stay in Vegas to fill a front office role.
Although Pietrangelo will be a key addition to the team, the Knights are still facing questions between the pipes. When deciding between fan favorite, veteran goaltender, Marc Andre-Fleury and rising star Robin Lehner, our coaches and front office will be faced with an extremely difficult decision. Fleury and Lehner have proven to be very viable options throughout the last year, especially during much of the 2020 playoff run when both had save percentages upwards of 90%. Outside of our goaltender, it seems that the Knights will not have many problems fielding the rest of the lineup. Almost all of the teams top faces from last season will return including points leaders Max Pacioretty, Mark Stone and Reilly Smith. In addition, some top players from our inaugural season will once again be sporting Vegas gold including William Karlsson, Jonathan Marchessault and Ryan Reeves.
With the 2021 season starting on Thursday, January 14th, Knights fans around the world have very high expectations. Luckily for everyone in the Las Vegas area or visiting, the best place to watch the Vegas Golden Knights defend their ranking this season is at Tailgate Social in Palace Station.
