CAN THE VGK GO ALL THE WAY? FIND OUT AT TAILGATE SOCIAL

The 2023 NHL Trade Deadline is four weeks away, it’s halfway through the hockey season, and the All-Star Break is drawing to a close. The Vegas Golden Knights started on a rampage and were sitting pretty at hockey’s top spot for the first portion of the season, making it such a fun experience to watch them play. What made it even better was watching the Vegas Golden Knights at Tailgate Social where you get a free draft beer for showing up in your VGK gear and a free domestic shot for every home team goal scored. It may be midseason, but there are still plenty of reasons to watch the Vegas Golden Knights at Tailgate Social!

HOW IT STARTED VS. HOW IT’S GOING

The Vegas Golden Knights started out driving this season like they stole it. A month into the season, they had a 13-2 record along with a nine-game winning streak. It looked like they were going to comfortably keep their lead spot at the top of the Pacific Division, especially with Mark Stone and Jack Eichel tearing it up on the same line. But January 12th, 2023, changed a lot for the VGK in a game against the Florida Panthers and their stampeding momentum. Since that game, the Vegas Golden Knights lost six of the last eight they played. At the break, their record is 29-18-4 with 62 points.

SAY IT AIN’T STONE

It was that fateful game that saw Captain Mark Stone leave and not come back, with an announcement that he is out indefinitely for the season after having a second back surgery in only 8 months. It’s not sure whether or not he’ll be back at all this season, which has some speculating on what that could mean for the VGK’s salary cap. There’s talk that a good power forward could be just the thing the Golden Knights need to get back up to speed, but until there’s a solid verdict on Stone, that possibility will remain unknown. There’s still hope for the VGK as they proved that they can play and play well the majority of this season, so as long as they stop lamenting “O Captain, My Captain,” and someone (cough Eichel) steps up, this season is far from over. VGK is only one point behind the Seattle Kracken and the team is definitely still playoff contenders.
