Take a Seat at Tailgate Social for These Can’t-Miss Matches of the Week
Football season is back and fans are fired up, but the hype is nowhere near full-throttle after an explosive first week has led to an even greater pique of interest. Tailgate Social is set for September with stacks of their full rack of baby back ribs at the ready and the draft lines chilled to perfection, waiting to serve you the perfect pour. There’s no reason for you to miss a single score of Week Two’s highlighted games.
Thursday: Chargers vs Chiefs
After what happened in Week One, this Thursday night game just got even more interesting. Last Sunday Justin Herbert and Khalil Mack flexed (unfortunately) over the (beloved) Raiders, showing that they’re hoping to be the L.A. team to win the Super Bowl this year. Chief’s QB Patrick Mahomes suffered a left wrist injury early in the first quarter in the stomping of the Arizona Cardinals, which despite post-game negative x-rays, still seemed to affect the way the future hall of famer was throwing. It could be just the crack that the Chargers need for the Chiefs to break, so make sure you’re settled on your barstool for the 5:15 pm start time so you don’t miss a minute of the madness.
Saturday: Miami Hurricanes at Texas A&M
Week Two was a wild one in college football, with seven of the top 25 teams being upset by their opponents. This makes the upcoming matchup between Miami and Texas A&M even more interesting, as Texas A&M’s loss to Appalachian State dropped them from the #6 spot on the AP’s Top Twenty Five to #24. Meanwhile, like the activity in the Atlantic, conditions are becoming more and more favorable for Hurricanes. They’ll be heading to Texas with a strong 2-0 start and Tyler Van Dyke leading a hot little offensive that can put up quickly. If you’re an A&M fan, order some Grilled Fish Tacos for ole’ Jimbo and a Fumble Rumble with Botanist, Ginger, Blackberries, and Lemon to help weather the storm. Hurricane homies should go for the Breakfast skillet with 3 eggs any style and breakfast potatoes and a Bloody Mary because their team is just waking up for what could be an epic season.
Sunday: Raiders vs Cardinals
It was a rough first week for the Raiders who suffered a hard-fought, injury-laden loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, but like the ever-wise Jay Z says, “it’s on to the next one.” For the Raiders that would be the Sunday afternoon matchup against the Arizona Cardinals who are also fresh off a loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. The Cardinals were already limping into the season with an injured team–including veteran defensive end J.J. Watt, so, in theory, there should be viable opportunities for Derek Carr to connect with his actual teammates against the Cardinals. Kickoff is at 1:25 pm, so come in early, get a buzz going and remember that after every storm, there’s Devante Adams waiting at the end of the rainbow.
